An easy-to-make homemade cocoa mix.  This makes a great holiday gift, when packaged in a pretty container.

Homemade Cocoa Mix

Ingredients

  • 2 c powdered sugar
  • 1 c Dutch cocoa
  • 2.5 c powdered milk
  • 1/5 t salt
  • 1/2 c dark or semisweet mini chocolate chips

Directions

Combine all the ingredients together and store in an air tight container until ready to use.  It will keep fresh longer in the refrigerator.

To make one perfect cup of hot cocoa:

2 or 3 T cocoa mix
1/2 c heavy cream, heated
1/2 c whole milk, heated
syrup or liqueur, if desired

optional garnishes - mini marshmallows, maraschino cherries, whipped cream, shaved chocolate, shaved mint-chocolate, flavored syrups or for a grown up treat add your favorite liqueur.

  1. Combine 2 to 3 T of homemade cocoa mix with a 1/2 cup each of warm heavy cream and whole milk. 
  2. Heat thoroughly but do not boil. 
  3. Add garnishes as desired.

Additional Tips
This also makes great chocolate milk.
